Therapy for Adults, Teens, and Couples in Austin, Texas

You've figured out how to keep going. But something underneath doesn't match the outside.

You show up, meet your responsibilities, and present well — because you do, mostly. But there's something underneath that doesn't match the outside. A low hum of anxiety you can't quite explain. Exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. A coping habit — overworking, numbing, staying constantly busy — built around something you've never fully named.

You're not falling apart. You're just tired of managing something alone that you can't seem to think your way out of. That's where this work begins.

Therapy works best when it gets honest about what's actually driving the pattern — not just the symptom you brought in. If you've ever thought, "I don't have a good enough reason to be struggling," you might be exactly who this is designed for. You don't have to be in crisis. You have to be ready to stop working around it.

If any of this sounds familiar, you are not alone in it — and you do not have to have it all figured out before you reach out. Most people who do this work say the hardest part was deciding to start. A free 15-minute consultation is available whenever you are ready.

WHO I WORK WITH

Individual Therapy for Adults

You're keeping it together — but it's costing more than it should. We work on understanding what's actually driving the pattern, not just managing the symptom you brought in.

Focus areas include:

Life transitions, anxiety, trauma, relationship patterns, and the quiet burnout that builds when you've been holding everything together for too long.

Treatment is focused and goal-oriented — you will know what we are working toward and why. Most people notice shifts in how they respond to stress and relationships before they expect to.

Therapy for Teens (Ages 13-17)

Adolescence is hard. Your teen might be dealing with anxiety, friendship drama, family conflict, or just feeling misunderstood. We create space for them to talk about what's really going on—without judgment.

Common concerns:

  • Anxiety (school, social, or just constant worry)

  • Emotional intensity or shutting down

  • Friendship conflicts or feeling left out

  • Family stress or not feeling heard at home

  • Academic pressure or lack of motivation

  • Identity questions or not knowing who they are

**Note for parents:** I keep therapy confidential unless safety is a concern. Your teen needs space to be honest, and I'll help you stay connected without breaking their trust.

Couples Therapy

You keep having the same fight. Or maybe you've stopped fighting and just feel distant. We identify the patterns keeping you stuck and work on creating connections that actually last.

I work with couples experiencing:

  • The same arguments over and over

  • Feeling like roommates instead of partners

  • One partner shuts down, the other pursues

  • Trust issues or past betrayals

  • Not feeling heard or understood

  • Disconnection or loss of intimacy

  • Considering separation, but not sure

How I Work With Clients In Austin

For individuals:

We explore how early experiences shaped your current responses and work toward emotional flexibility, better relationships, and patterns that actually serve you.

For teens:

We focus on what's happening now, building skills to manage emotions and relationships, and creating space to figure out who they are.

For couples:

We identify the patterns keeping you stuck, understand what's driving disconnection, and rebuild communication and trust.

I use Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), relational therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and mindfulness-based interventions.

The goal isn't just to feel better temporarily—it's to understand why you're struggling and create lasting change.

Therapy is available:

  • In-person Monday and Wednesday in Austin

  • Telehealth Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday throughout Texas

  • Weekly or biweekly sessions, typically 53-60 minutes

You might recognize yourself here

  • You handle things. You've always handled things. That's not the problem.

The problem is what handling everything for years actually costs — and how long you've been telling yourself it's not that bad.

Maybe it sounds like:

"It's not a big deal." "Other people have it worse." "I don't have a good enough reason to feel this way." "I just need to push through."

You've gotten really good at that. So good that you might not even notice you're doing it anymore.

But your body keeps track of everything you've told yourself didn't matter. The exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. The patience that runs out faster than it used to. The feeling that you're living your life on the outside while something else is happening underneath.

You're not falling apart. You've never fallen apart. That's kind of the point.

This work is for people who are tired of managing something alone that they can't seem to think their way out of — and who are ready to understand what's actually driving it, not just get better at coping with it.

Common Asked Question

How often will we meet?

Most clients meet weekly, especially at first. Once things stabilize, we might move to biweekly or monthly check-ins.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. I accept BCBS, Optum/UHC, Aetna, Cigna, Ambetter, and Medicare. For self-pay clients, my rate is competitive and below that of many therapists in the area. Your benefits will be verified before your first session so there are no surprises.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, with a few exceptions: if there's risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order. For teens, I keep therapy confidential unless safety is a concern.

What ages do you work with?

I see teens 13 and up, adults of all ages, and couples.

What if I'm not in crisis—is therapy still for me?

Absolutely. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Most of my clients are managing daily life but want to understand themselves better or change patterns that aren't working.

What if I don't remember much of my childhood?

That's actually common. We don't need detailed memories to understand patterns. We work with what you do remember and what shows up in your life now.

Do I need to know if I have trauma?

No. Many people don't identify with the word "trauma" even though they're affected by difficult experiences. We focus on how your past is showing up now—not on labeling it.

What if my teen doesn't want to come?

That's normal. Most teens don't ask for therapy—parents bring them. I work to build trust and create space where they feel heard. If they're really resistant, we can talk about what might help

How do I get started?

Call or text 512-200-4264, or schedule a free 15-minute consultation at the top of the page.  I typically respond within 24 hours. We'll talk about what's going on and whether I'm a good fit. In-person sessions are available at two Austin locations, or we can meet via telehealth throughout Texas.

“Katherine is an incredible therapist who truly takes the time to understand her clients on a deep level. She goes beyond surface issues to explore your background and history — a rare and valuable quality. She weaves in real-life examples that make her guidance practical and relatable, and she provides structured, guided learning opportunities that promote real growth. She’s even taken the time to check in outside of sessions, showing how much she genuinely cares. Katherine is results-driven and intentional with every session, making each one impactful. I highly recommend her to anyone ready to make a meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
